God save us

who are we but wasting away in our flesh?

decaying because of our own sin

falling victim to our own lies and deceit

we are lost in a darkness we ourselves have created

we lead ourselves astray

not walking, but running, faster and further from the Light

this Light is not only the absence of darkness, but its conqueror as well

it uncovers the darkness here under the sun,

that manifests itself within all too willing human hosts

but Light comes in power to search the hearts of men

coming in the name of the One most high to dwell within beings most low

He could have remained above the stratosphere of our depravity

and kept safe distance from the evil that dared to threaten our separation from his presence

but instead, He came in the filth of the flesh

to walk blamlessly among his children

so that they may know the Father's love

that reaches out for them in the darkest and deepest pits,

the most barren and remote deserts,

and the lowest unreachable valleys

this Love we do not deserve

and we can do nothing to deserve it more

because this Love is righteous, it is pure, and it is holy

it cannot be taken away from us, nor can we ever be separated from it

it is a Love that we cannot fully understand because it is so freely given

and so we reject Love

even to this day, Love is crucified

it is watered down, neglected and bruised

and yet we cry out for it

frome the depths of our depravity, we cry out

in our drunkeness and debauchery, we cry out

in our lust and sexual immorality, we cry out

in our bitterness and rage, we cry out

in our fear and confusion, we cry out

we cry out for the One who was, who is, and who is to come

and He WILL come

He will come to meet us exactly where we are

in all of His matchless glory, He will come and deliver us
